The morning cool was on its way out…
but I knew if I didn’t take Ziggy for a quick run before the heat became intolerable,
He would be into all kinds of mischief (he gets that way when he’s bored)
so, off we went to his favorite run spot
Where he caught sight of a lizard, then a ground squirrel. He ran hard after them both, losing them each in turn to the deep holes hidden under the sagebrush…Tongue hanging out of his panting chops, smelling like the desert…My dusty Ziggy dog was spent. We drove home, filled the swamp cooler with water-Blessed Cool- and spent the remainder of the day indoors.
Ziggy napped for the better part of the day. When he awoke, full of energy…He was ready for his evening run….
We figured it was probably cool enough to take him.
Gone now was the oppressive heat of the day…
The wind picked up as the evening progressed…
The evening sky, painted in bold colors
and fast changing designs which sparked our imagination to life … We called out to one another, as we pointed up at what we were describing to each other… giggling like children.
Ziggy was busy chasing anything that he could find until he came and sat between us, he was tired….
We both smile as we reach down and rub Ziggy’s furry head.
We are grateful. We are at peace. We are content.
This Is Serenity.
